Education

Research Interests He works primarily on Peacemaking and Genocide Prevention. The founding Director of Columbia University's Center for International Conflict Resolution (CICR), a Senior Research Scholar at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), a Teaching Fellow at Georgetown University, and at the University of Siena, Dr. Bartoli has taught in the US since 1994. At Columbia, he chaired the Columbia University Seminar on Conflict Resolution. He is currently a Board member of Search for Common Ground (http://www.sfcg.org/) and a member of Dynamics of Conflict, an international research group (http://www.dynamicsofconflict.iccc.edu.pl/). His work on conflict resolution and preventive diplomacy dates back to the early 80's and has also included work on Mozambique, the Sudan, Burundi, and Angola.

Teaching Interests

Publications * He has been involved in many conflict resolution activities as a member of the Community of St. Egidio (http://www.santegidio.org/en/), and has published books and articles on violence, migration, and conflict resolution. Recently, he authored a chapter on "NGOs and Conflict Resolution" for The SAGE Handbook of Conflict Resolution published in 2009. He was co-editor of the 2005 book Somalia, Rwanda and Beyond: The Role of International Media in Wars and International Crisis.
