Research Interests	Alma Gottlieb is professor of anthropology, African studies and women's studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is currently president of the Society for Humanistic Anthropology. Gottlieb has held fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Social Science Research Council, and many other agencies. Her major field research has been among the Beng people of Côte d'Ivoire. Her current interests concern indigenous religious traditions, and infants and young children.
