Focused on a Islam and Politics in West Africa. Initially I
focused on the era of Decolonization (Resulting in the monograph The
Time of Politics (Zamanin Siyasa): Islam and the Politics of Legitimacy
in Northern Nigeria, 1950-1966 -- which is available in paperback.

Also researching British colonial policy towards Islam in
Nigeria and elsewhere in West Africa.

Teach African, Middle Eastern, and World History, as well as
various thematic courses within the college Honors Program.

Africa in World History: From Prehistory to the Present with Prentice-Hall publishers, a core text for African History survey courses.
