Research Interests	Particularly interested in the social and environmental history of southern Africa. My research focuses on the colonial period in Zimbabwe, exploring changing methods of agricultural production, conflict between the state and peasants, gender and generational dynamics, community relations, and peasant understandings of historical change. Currently working on a book and several articles addressing these issues.
Teaching Interests	Teach a range of courses at the University of Alberta. These include the African surveys, historical methods, slavery in Africa and the Atlantic world, a new course in African religions, and world history.
