Research Interests

Trained in political science, my main interest is in the politics of
health and health care in Africa. I have written on the political ecology
of disease, on the impact of war on women, on women's health, and on
occupational and environmental health in Africa. Field work has taken me
to Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Algeria, but I have also visited Uganda, Kenya,
Rwanda, South Africa, Senegal, and Cameroon, and I have written about
Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, and Gabon.
